The inaugural Ipswich Jazz Festival kicks off Friday 26 August, bringing together three unique jazz performances each with their individual style for a truly memorable weekend not to be missed.
The Ipswich Civic Centre is offering a special price of just $50 for all three performances, featuring the Sarah Collyer Quintet, The Beatles Swing Show and The Enterprise jazz quartet.
Sarah Collyer Quintet
With her luxurious, blues drenched voice, Sarah Collyer has been influenced by jazz greats including Nina Simone and Miles Davis, but finds inspiration in contemporary artists like Melody Gardot, Diana Krall, Cassandra Wilson and Tom Waits. A consummate and seasoned performer, Sarah’s live shows are a hit with audiences who love her soulful originals and engaging stage presence.
The Beatles Swing Show
A thrill for big band enthusiasts as well as lovers of the works of Lennon and McCartney, Craig Martin and his Big Band bring to Ipswich a journey through the greatest works of, some would say, the greatest band ever! This performance reworks 25 Beatles classics to bring them to the audience in ‘swing style’, without compromising the original genius of the songs.
The Enterprise
Jazz quartet from Brisbane, The Enterprise play their own brand of fresh and original contemporary jazz compositions. Their music presents as a mix of instrumental and vocal numbers with melody, unique arrangements, and improvisation. Gorgeous melody, tight arrangements, funky grooves and exciting improvisation make The Enterprise an electrifying event to witness.
