This Easter school holidays, Bunk Puppets are back at the Ipswich Art Gallery with Swamp Juice, where audiences are invited to come and meet a man in a swamp like no other.
Audiences will be inspired and captivated as a life in a swamp unfolds as unimaginable creatures are created before the audience eyes – bickering snails, neurotic snakes and opera singing mice to name just a few.
Family audiences of all ages are set to giggle uncontrollably at both the shadow puppet creations and puppeteer, who is also front and centre during the performance, and gasp at the spell-binding 3D shadow puppet finale.
A spokesperson for Ipswich City Council said the performance was sure to be a highlight of the Easter school holidays for families.
“Once again the Children’s Gallery at the Ipswich Art Gallery is presenting audiences with captivating, creative and engaging programs for children and families.
“Swamp Juice audiences will delight in watching everyday recyclable materials come together to create swamp dwelling creatures, which are then projected to hilarious live cartoons.
“When acclaimed puppeteer Jeff Achtem brought Bunk Puppets show Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones to the Ipswich Art Gallery last year, there were fits of laughter and huge applause in every sell out performance.
“This Easter School holidays Ipswich audiences will once again be able to see this internationally acclaimed performer.”
Swamp Juice has had rave reviews worldwide. From “Wonderfully enchanting, an absolute delight! London Evening Standard, to “Hauntingly beautiful, awesome “, Adelaide Advertise, reviewers in Edinburgh, New York and Adelaide have testified to the skill of Achtem’s performance and the joy of being in the audience.
Swamp Juice is on at the Ipswich Art Gallery from Tuesday 29 March to Saturday 9 April. With adults at kids’ prices, all tickets are just $7 each and under 2’s are free.
