Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell, AO, DSC appoints Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld, AO, DSC to Chief of Air Force, with his wife Louise. Air Marshal Hupfield takes over from Air Marshal ‘Leo’ Davies who is retiring from the Air Force after 40 years of distinguished service.
Royal Australian Air Force airman Leading Aircraftwoman Ashleigh Calam, firefighter from No. 23 Squadron (right), equipped in a Chemical Resistant Splash Suit, is directed through a decontamination scenerio by a member of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Services during a hazardous material (HAZMAT) and decontamination exercise with No 23 Squadron Fire Section at Amberley.
Exercise Talisman Sabre exercise is underway in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area near Rockhampton and its sea approaches. TS19 isthe eighth iteration of the exercise and consists of a Field Training Exercise incorporating force preparation (logistic) activities, amphibious landings, land force manoeuvre, urban operations, air operations, maritime operations and Special Forces activities. The TS series focuses on the planning and conduct of mid-intensity “high end” warfighting. (Defence Photos).
