If you’re looking to renovate your bathroom, one of the biggest challenges you will face is choosing a tile that looks good, is durable and won’t break the budget. Here are some of the biggest tile trends we’ve seen this year:
Go timeless:
Renovating a bathroom can get quite expensive so choose tiles that will not date quickly. Using a neutral colour scheme is a good way to avoid this. Don’t want the tiles to look boring? Pattern them in a herringbone or other timeless pattern, that gives the room a bit more excitement.
Create texture with tiles:
Textured or 3D tiles add a little bit of flair to the bathroom without going overboard. Pairing these types of tiles with a simple tile in a complementary or matching colour will create a luxurious feel as long as some contrasting colours are included in the scheme with the vanity, lighting and styling selections.
To contrast or complement?
Using a contrasting coloured wall to the rest of the room can make a big impact, whilst balancing dark floor tiles with light wall tiles will anchor the room. If this is too bold for your taste, try pairing different depths of the same colour which will give the room a nice consistency.
Bold patterned tiles are certainly a risk but when teamed with other tiles that are subtle and complementary, the wow factor is worth it.
Trial a different shape:
Hexagonal, rhomboid, rectangle, diamond, fish-scale, round, and even wavy tiles are adorning bathroom walls and floors.
Depending on the size and shape, these may be a perfect alternative to the bold patterned tile; yet still creates a point of interest in the room.
