What would you do if your son or daughter felt unsafe online? What if you found them engaging in risky behaviour on social media? This month, Cyber Safety Workshops for parents and carers will be held in Ipswich and Springfield.
Presented by Internet Education and Safety Services (INESS), these workshops are delivered by Brett Lee, a former online undercover police detective.
Brett says the problems children are facing online today are no different to those eight years ago. “It’s not about the technology, it’s about protecting the children,” Brett Lee said.
“It’s never going to be the case that a parent can look over a child’s shoulder 24 hours a day.But they [parents] can arm them with the skills, give them reasons to make good choices and let them know where they stand.”
The workshops cover internet safety related to social networking, the law online, identity protection and cyber bullying. Parents and carers will also learn strategies of protection and prevention to empower you to reduce online risks within your home and keep your children safe online.
Bookings to these workshops are essential – please RSVP by Monday, 13 March.
