Ipswich Fires up for Festival 2016

The excitement for Ipswich Festival is building and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever.

Kicking off with ‘Fire on the River, a spectacular synchronized fireworks event on 7th of April at Riverlink Shopping Centre, sets the scene for the festival ahead.

Executive Chairman of Ipswich Events Corporation, Paul Casos says, ‘This year the festival has more than 50 major events to ensure an incredible fun packed, eighteen days of entertainment for the community. We appreciate and thank the support of our Festival Partners, including Signature Partners Channel 9 Queensland, Heritage Bank, St. Andrews Ipswich Private Hospital and Ipswich City Council for their contribution to the program.

Main events to look forward to include the rich multicultural celebration ‘Global Fiesta’ on 9th of April at Queen’s Park featuring food, music, workshops and live entertainment from cultures all over the world.

The 16th of April will host a full day programme of great events, including:

‘Creative Kidz’ in the mall, an interactive kids and family fun day.

The Festival Criterium bike race in the Top of Town, the Ipswich Art Awards at St Pauls Anglican Church, the Parade of Lights which this year has a theme of Superheroes and Villains that everyone is encouraged to dress up for.

Followed by the Street Concert and HONK! – A beautiful display of classic and vintage cars.

A whole host of ticketed shows lie ahead for your enjoyment including ‘The Fabulous Sounds of the Sixties’ where the The Darren J Ray Band and The Love Bugs perform greatest hits from the sixties at the Ipswich Civic Centre.

Another great performance will be the much anticipated ‘Let the Organ Thunder’ at St Pauls Anglican Church, celebrating the restoration of the historic organ. The concert will be a unique experience combining the talents of three organists, the beautiful sounds of brass, percussion and a massed choir.
