Kitsch in the Switch is going Atomic! Kitsch is taking over Ipswich, with an intergalactic vibe on Saturday September 9. There’s a fab line-up of entertainment and vintage-retro stalls. This glittering marvel of style is almost here, so get ready for some truly awesome space-age fun and excitement with Atomic2017.

Now entering its fifth year, Kitsch in the Swich – the Retro and Rockabilly Fashion Fiesta – is celebrating the Atomic Space Age of the 1950s! It’s an event that stuns, with its exciting lineup of talent and entertainment. Be there, or definitely be square, for an epic day of vintage fashion, pinup parades, the annual Prom King and Queen Pageant, live music, food trucks and so much more.

The theme is all about the race into Space, a time when the United States and Russia were at loggerheads, when Marilyn Monroe graced our screens with glamourous naughtiness, and the Drive-In was the only place to be on a Saturday night. This was the retro1950s.
So, it’s time to dig out your ‘space suits’ and space gear, and be seen in galactic brilliance.
Rachel Vickary (Queen of Kitsch) and all the usual suspects have put together some exciting treats for this year’s retro bash, so all that remains is how to enter the beloved vintage fashion pageant, and turn up.

“We’re boldly going where no Kitschette ever has been before, with Atomic2017,” Rachel said. “So, mark your calendar and get ready for some inter-stellar fun!

The Retro Fest will be held throughout the Ipswich Mall. At the heart of the event is a desire to ibring the community together for a festive, and somewhat way-out event.

Local retailers will be taking part along with the hugely popular Food Trucks in the Mall.
Like last year, there will be the popular vintage markets and a photo wall where people can come and take selfies with a space theme background – then post to Instagram #kitschintheswich.

Of course the Prom King and Queen pageant will be back in full swing. It’s free to enter, the retro dress requirements are simple, and the prizes are enticing.
Competitors will have the time of their lives dressing up and parading on the day, and the lucky winners will be invited back next year to be the Face of Kitsch in the Swich next year.
The vibe of the atomic age will be strongly felt with the spattering of space aged themes throughout.

The people of Ipswich, young and young at heart, are invited to join the throwback to simpler times, indulge in retro fashion and soak in a sweet weekend at Kitsch in the Swich.
This is a not to be missed event on the Ipswich scene, so don’t miss it!
