With the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint fast approaching, Chaz Mostert – aka Mozzie – has little time to relax and rejuvenate as he preps to compete. The 25-year-old Beaudesert-born champion is currently ranked fifth in the competition, and is hoping to secure a win at the event where he claimed his first Supercars career race win. The Supercheap Auto Ford Driver has taken some time out of his busy schedule to share with us his favourite things to do in Ipswich and the surrounding areas.
Here, Chaz details a few of the driver’s favourite spots to visit in the area:
Castle Hill Blackstone Reserve
I love mountain bike riding around Castle Hill. It provides a lot more than just awesome views, although they are quite spectacular! The good news is everyone – no matter what their abilities – can access it. I love the ride, it is a fantastic opportunity to get out with a couple mates and enjoy the area.
4 Hearts Brewing Pumpyard Bar & Brewery
I’m a huge fan of the 4 Hearts Brewery. It’s set in the old technical college that has a wealth of history dating back to 1901. I think it’s the perfect spot to grab to get a few mates together and grab a boutique beer that is brewed onsite, plus it has some great pub grub.
I’m no pro, but I know this is a great spot for a round of golf. Friendly competition, mates, food and drinks; what more could you want?
If I’m ever in the mood to take it a bit slower, I head to Brisbane Street at the Top of Town. It’s Ipswich’s most popular street with the famous strip of restaurants, cafés and shops. Heisenberg Haus is a favourite of mine.
Another thrill-seeking activity – but with less hassle. The trike tours offer a one-of-a-kind ride around Ipswich city on a Harley Davidson, where you can take in the best sites and scenery in the area. The ride is not as fast as I’m accustomed to, but I would definitely say it’s worth the trip.
The Supercars Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint will be hitting the Queensland Raceway 28 to 30 July. For tickets and further information, visit www.supercars.com.
