Mountain bike riders now have a demanding but trail-friendly place to ride, with the opening of an 800 metre trail near the Mi Hi Bridge at Brassall.
Councillor Cheryl Bromage said the trail allowed riders of all skill levels including juniors and beginners to try mountain biking and build their confidence.
“The trail has been rated Green (easy) under the International Mountain Bicycling Association Trail Difficulty Rating System,” Cr Bromage said.
The trail follows the contours of the land to make for a rewarding ride along the creek banks, with mounds for adventurous riders.
“It’s perfect for people who want to move away from concrete paths and build their confidence on a dirt trail,” Cr Bromage said. “There are no big jumps to negotiate so it’s great for younger riders.
“A viewing shelter will be built in the next few weeks so parents can watch their children ride, and it will also include a bike repair station.”
