A new year is a new opportunity to re-invent your style and experiment with different trend, and depending on how bold you want to be you can be the centre of attention wherever you go.LQ has researched high and low for what’s hot and what’s not for 2019, so that all you need to do is sit back, relax and think about heading to the shops…
MARIGOLD
Yellow may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but marigold is the perfect shade of yellow to experiment with. It suits most skin tones, isn’t too bright yet still makes a statement. It can be paired with minimal accessories or for a more summery look, match it with lilac or aqua tones.
60s CALIFORNIA VIBES
Tie-dye, palm trees, band tees.. all of these things are expected to come back for the summer of 2019. Almost sixty years later however, the options are lot more ‘chic’, refined and with flattering silhouettes. Opt for muted colours so you don’t look like you’re in a dress up costume!
BIKE SHORTS
The hype of the bike shorts will live on in 2019. They’re not for us personally, but some people can really rock them – especially paired with a baggy tee and sneakers.
ANIMAL PRINT
Whether it’s leopard, snake or zebra print, you’ll be seeing a lot of it in 2019. This comes around every few years anyway, so it’s likely you already have some animal printed garments at the back of your cupboard. Recycle them and save yourself some dollars!
SAFARI SUIT REVIVAL
From high end boutiques to high street stores, elements of the safari suit have been creeping in to our fashion forecast – think oversized breast pockets, big buttons and statement belts. It’s not just reserved for tops and shorts either – for example, Australian brand Zimmermann recently released a jumpsuit in this style.
SHEER MATERIAL
Whether it’s sheer sleeves, sheer tops or even sheer bottoms, the see-through look is really hot right now. Depending on how daring you are, you can customise it to your comfortable level – wear a modest slip underneath or dare to bare as much as you like!
