In this, the first of our PhotoScene segments, we focus on local Ipswich photographers, promoting their work and the images of our city. Each month we will bring you the best of their special images.
Our first entrant is Gail Bryant who won the major prize in the 2016 Enviroplan Photographic Competition. Her image shown is of the Bradfield Bridge between the Ipswich CBD and Riverlink.
Gail has been taking pictures for Competition, and she loves getting out and about with her camera.
“I have developed a great passion for photography including wildlife, flora and landscapes,” Gail said.
“For the Bradfield Bridge photo I used a tripod with shutter release cable. The camera was a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 1/25 sec shutter speed, f22 aperture, ISO200, 24mm focal length using a 24-70mm Tamron lens.”
Gail has just returned from a two week trip around the Northern Territory taking photos while on tours around the ‘Top End’.
Gail also enjoys taking photos of interest in the Ipswich region, and uses photography to remind others that it is the smaller things in life that are also important.
“I usually research the subject and give a few points about the photograph so I can raise awareness in the community about what is in our area,” she said.
“I enjoy going out on field trips to source material to photograph, and I can’t wait to get home and see just what I have captured when I upload the images to my computer.”
Gail’s website hosts a gallery of her work. Viewers can browse and purchase prints, canvases, and more. Go to gailsphotography.com.au, and check out her Facebook page at facebook.com/gailsphotographyart.
