SUPPORT OUR IPSWICH RETAILERS AND VENUES
With Christmas almost upon us, it’s time to make the rounds and buy your presents for family and friends. So why not shop local and help boost the Ipswich economy? Local businesses would really appreciate the support.
Ipswich Chamber of Commerce President, Phillip Bell said the benefits of buying locally, from local retailers, is especially important this year, with the disruption to business through work being carried out on the CBD Redevelopment project. There has also been months of uncertainty for our Top of Town and Ipswich Mall retailers, adjusting to the demolition work and reconstruction in the Ipswich City Mall.
“Our retailers need our support now more than ever, Mr Bell said. “I so appreciate the retailers locally who have committed to being present during this redevelopment, especially through the Christmas period.
“These retailers are adhering to the philosophy that shoppers will get the same experience withstanding the redevelopment, no matter what.
While supporting local Ipswich families is a great incentive, it also means purchasing unique and one of a kind gifts that you can’t find online or anywhere else.
Re-connecting with festivities
Mr Bell suggests swapping online buying for going Christmas shopping that can provide you and your family with retail therapy.
“I do think people need to reconnect with the shopping centre festivity, Mr Bell said.
“I know Riverlink and other local centres will be typically decked out with Christmas decorations and all of the family attractions.
“The whole retail therapy around Christmas is as good of a reason to get out and interact with the community as anything, so my suggestion would be as well as enjoying our parks and gardens over the Christmas period.
“You just can’t discount the importance of walking around the shops as a family and enjoying that Christmas shopping experience.
Mr Bell also suggests making a day out of Christmas shopping means supporting the hospitality and entertainment sector also.
“You can really make an event out of it, you don’t want to just do your shopping and leave. It’s all about the hospitality, eating out, getting an icecream, seeing a movie and making a day of special Christmas experiences.
