Celebrating 10 years of education, St Peters Lutheran College Springfield feels justifiably proud in the strong achievements and growth gained by their now medium sized school and onsite Kindergarten.
St Peters have plans for future building development to support their ongoing and projected growth which Mr Craig Schmidt Acting Principal described as an exciting opportunity to develop learning and community spaces that are responsive to the needs of our young people to ensure they are well equipped to live and work in our changing world.
St Peters is committed to the provision of excellence in Christian education which requires an ongoing process of development and improvement. With a high-quality teaching staff, St Peters continues to explore and develop agile learning environments and technology-rich pedagogies that support the development of 21st century skills such as collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. There is an exceptional sense of community at St Peters which provides a prime environment for learning and the growth and formation of our young people.
Mr Schmidt emphasized that St Peters Lutheran College has always been a highly respected academic school in Brisbane and their Springfield College is no exception. 2017 saw 78 per cent of its cohort awarded entrance to Australian Universities and seven per cent to International. The College NAPLAN results are always above the Queensland State Mean in all assessment areas in all year levels and again in 2017 their results demonstrated another upward trend. This is the outcome of their teachers deliberate focus on the development of foundational skills in literacy and numeracy for their students.
This College Community enjoys a culturally rich and diverse environment and families value the College Core Values of Care Dignity and Respect shown to all students and families.
The College Principal personally shakes hands with every new student to the College at their Enrolment Interview as they agree to the College expectations of Plus Ultra (ever higher) and treating everyone with care, dignity and respect. New families have a strong understanding that their children will be safe at St Peters, and older families confirm it.
Another special and unique St Peters experience is the Ironbark Program, a compulsory five week “boarding experience” for Year 9 students, located at the St Peters Ironbark Outdoor Education Centre Crows Nest. This Ironbark experience is a focus on personal growth and development aimed at challenging students physically, socially, intellectually and spiritually and is always voted “the best memory of schooldays” by our old scholars.
The College is accessible through a wide range of transport options for students to travel to and from our school, including close proximity to the train with a complimentary bus service, as well as a St Peters operated bus service transporting our students to and from many of our surrounding suburbs.
