Teamwork, leadership and pursuit of excellence are qualities we encourage and nurture in our children. For St Peters Lutheran College Springfield, three senior school students posessing these attributes were able to be formally recognised by the Australian Defence Force.

Recent SPLC Springfield graduate Christopher Wise was awarded an Australian Defence Forces Academy Education Award while Minami Hood (Year 10) and Lachlan Brindell (Year 12) were presented with Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Awards.

ADFA Education Awards presented to Year 12 students in recognition of their academic and sporting achievements and leadership potential.

There are up to 50 awards are available yearly, and are given from either the Navy, Army or Air Force and presented to suitable applicants who have applied for entry to ADFA.

Flight Lieutenant Alex Leedham from Defence Force Recruiting presented Christopher with his award. Christopher, one of the College captains, is planning on a career in the defence forces.
Minami and Lachlan were presented with their awards by Adam Barratt.

The Long Tan Awards recognise students who demonstrate leadership and teamwork within both the school and the broader community. At the same time, they recognise those who display strong values, such as doing one’s best, respect for others and ‘mateship’.

Minami and Lachlan who are exemplary student servant leaders are worthy recipients of these awards.
