Expect to see some ‘out of the norm’ looks trackside at ‘the Cup’ on June 16th. As we canter towards the Ipswich Cup and the Winter Race Carnival season, it’s time to talk fashion and not so traditional dress codes.

“Winter Carnival fashion doesn’t have to be boring..”
…with Aislinn Dwyer

Expect to see ladies ditching the mini dress in favour of some more unusual yet elegant choices.

The Power Suit

We love the power suit for a number of reasons – it looks amazing, it helps you stand out from the crowd and as an added bonus, it’ll keep you warm when the sun sets. To give the power suit some flair, choose a bold colour and add a felt hat to complete the look.

Winter Textures

Cottons and linens should be reserved for the summer months as it’s now time for those gorgeous winter materials to shine – think velvet, leather and lace. Expect to see hemlines drop to midi length, necklines to go upwards and long sleeved dresses to make a fashionable, yet weather appropriate appearance.

Shift in Colour

While millennial pink has been popular, you’re set to dazzle in “it” winter colours like peacock pink, emerald, burgundy, burnt orange and mustard.

Fashion faux pas

Flower crown fascinators, kaftans, midriffs and spaghetti straps. There’s a time and place for all of these things – in summer, and not on the race track. Most of all, avoid blending in with everyone else – by adding unique touches to your outfit and you will stand out from the crowd!
