While everyone else may be making New Year Resolutions to eat healthier, exercise more, be more charitable and spend time on new hobbies, we’re adding “great entertainment” to our 2019 schedule! Here’s the can’t-be-missed list for the small screen.
Big Little Lies, Season 2
Oh boy! After that cliffhanger of a final episode in Season One, we can’t see what this star studded cast (including newcomer Meryl Streep) gets up to. Bad news? It’s likely we won’t see a Season 3 according to Nicole Kidman who plays main character, Celeste Wright. “I think it would simply be hard to get the whole group together,” Kidman said. “But we would love to do it.”
Big Little Lies, Season 1 was based upon Australian author Liane Moriarty’s book, also titled Big Little Lies. It tells the story of three emotionally troubled women in Monterey, California, who become embroiled in a murder investigation. Binge watch it now in preparation for the second season!
Stranger Things, Season 3
A sci-fi series that needs little to no introduction. Everybody’s favourite kids are set to return for the third season and whilst a date and a trailer hasn’t been released, David Harbour (who plays Jim Hopper) confirmed filming had finished in November.
One of the show’s writers, Ross Duffer said about the season: “It’s really the final summer of their childhood. They’re dealing with growing up, with these complicated new relationships. They’re starting to fall apart a little bit, and maybe they don’t love playing Dungeons & Dragons as much as they used to. Naturally, that’s going to generate conflict.”
We can’t wait to see what action and world saving shenanigans occur in the latest installment of Stranger Things!
True Detective, Season 3
If you’re not familiar with True Detective, it follows a 1995 murder case that is revisited 17 years later, calling into question the supposed solving of the crime by Louisiana State Police Detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart, and reopening old wounds related to the detectives’ volatile partnership and personal lives. Admittedly, we haven’t watched this one ourselves – but a binge watch over the Christmas holidays may be in order! With big name actors like Matthew McConaughey, Michelle Monaghan, Woody Harrelson and Vince Vaughn, we’ll happily binge watch this before the third installment premiers in January.
The Veronica Mars Revival
Oh my, can you actually believe that Veronica Mars will be returning to TV? The original series from 2004 to 2007 had such a cult following that fans crowd-sourced a film, and now a television revival is in the works and coming next year.
The official logline for the show is: “Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”
Eek! We can’t wait to see everyone’s favourite heroine back on our screens and solving crimes.
