IPSWICH residents immersed themselves in a whole new world when virtual reality gaming took centre stage at digital start-up hub Fire Station 101.
Newly-formed Warehouse Gaming was launched on Sunday at Fire Station 101 and is being spearheaded by virtual reality advocate Lex Van Cooten and Ipswich businessman James Sturges.
Together, the pair is hosting virtual reality gaming days at Fire Station 101.
Mayor Paul Pisasale officially launched Warehouse Gaming by signing a virtual signature before trying his hand at virtual reality gaming with Mr Van Cooten.
“Council started Fire Station 101 to promote digital technology and a start-up culture in Ipswich, which makes Warehouse Gaming a perfect fit,” Cr Pisasale said.
“Virtual reality is a rapidly emerging technology that has so much potential to have a positive impact not just on the way we play but also on the way we learn and do business.
“This is just the start for virtual reality technology in Ipswich with several of our Fire Station 101 entrepreneurs already working on a range of exciting projects. To the residents of Ipswich and beyond, I say, watch this space.”
