WHAT IS IT

A Coronavirus is a type of virus that affects birds, mammals and humans. It affects the respiratory tract and is usually associated with the common cold, pneumonia, bronchitis and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Covoid-19 is a new viral strain of a coronavirus. Like all illnesses, there are those who are more at risk of becoming seriously ill – the very young and the very old, those who are immunocompromised, and those with a history of respiratory conditions and illness.

HOW DOES IT SPREAD

The virus is usually spread through the following ways:

  • close contact with an infectious person
  • contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze
  • touching objects or surfaces (like doorknobs or tables) that have cough or sneeze droplets from an infected person, and then touching your mouth or face

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS

Symptoms can include:

  • sneezing
  • runny nose
  • fatigue
  • cough
  • fever
  • sore throat
  • exacerbated asthma

If you develop any of these symptoms, you should see your doctor for testing, and self-isolate until your results come back.
