The Ipswich Hospital Foundation has chalked up another successful Park 2 Park marathon and fun run marking the fifteenth year of this spectacular event.
The weather could not have been finer, as more than 1700 participants took to the track to run flat out, cruise along or just take a nice walk in the winter sunshine. Distances ranged from 2.5 kms to 21 kilometres for the half-marathon runners, through Limestone and Queens Park. Athletes who braved the half marathon had to complete four laps of the park negotiating both flat and hilly terrain.
The result was a day of “great entertainment, spills and thrills” according to IHF Board Chair Neil Harding.
Joel Andrews took out first place for the Male Half Marathon in one hour, twenty one minutes while Tamara Carvolth was awarded first place for her run in the Female Half Marathon with a time of one hour, twenty one minutes.
The day was hailed as another great success and the organisers were pleased with the genuine community spirit and involvement that shone through.
